Optimize plant growth with the AutoPot Air Dome

The AutoPot Air Dome is the perfect solution for maintaining oxygenation to the root zones in AutoPot systems . The roots are the engine of your plants—when the root zones are well aerated, the additional oxygen intensifies growth and leads to significantly improved health and overall vitality.

How the Air Dome works

The Air Dome is a cone-shaped piece of plastic mesh enclosing a section of porous tubing. This dome sits at the bottom of the container, buried below the substrate surface. When connected to an air pump (sold separately), the mesh acts as a protective cover for the air flow, which passes through the porous tubing and toward the root zone.

Oxygen is essential for healthy roots. Since AutoPots are bottom-fed, aerating the containers is a great way to ensure the substrate doesn't become too moist, which can lead to root diseases like Pythium. Once root diseases appear, plants can suffer dire consequences in a very short time. An ample supply of oxygen creates a root-friendly environment that provides ongoing benefits from the earliest stages until harvest time!

Using the AirDomes in the AutoPot system

Place the AirDome on the Root Control Disc (1Pot XL) or the Marix Disc (1Pot & easy2grow) inside the pot. If using an Airbase, place the AirDome in the designated notch. Otherwise, carefully fill with expanded clay, GrowStones, or perlite (we advise against using perlite in fabric pots, as it can easily slip) up to the height of the AirDome.

Step 2: Activating the AirDomes

The AirDomes shouldn't be activated immediately. Wait 2-3 weeks for the plants to establish before introducing air into the root zone.

Step 3: Optimal air temperature

Ensure that warm air is always blown into the root zone. The ideal temperature is between 18ºC and 21ºC. Avoid directing cold or hot air into the root zone.

Step 4: Positioning the air pump

• Do not place the air pump directly on cold floor surfaces.
• If nighttime temperatures in your grow room drop significantly, use a timer to turn off the pump at night. We recommend connecting the air pump to the lighting timer and only pumping oxygen into the root zone during the light period.
